The hallmark of a genius and at the cornerstone of humanity is a changed mind.
That is essential to being human, and what often distinguishes us from the rest of the animal kingdom. Birds can change their mind in micropatterns: choosing to eat one type of seed or fish over another. But they do not change their patterns in a macro sense. We do.
For instance, some birds are programed in their DNA to fly south for the winter. That will never change. It does not have the freewill to change its pattern and will always fly south for the winter to ensure its survival. Humans are distinguishable in that we were created in the image and likeness of all-mighty God, and when he breathed his life into us, we became living beings.
What habits can you break to draw closer to the Creator of the universe and its creation? What steps towards discipline can you adopt to change?
Often society barrages politicians and officials when they change their mind on policy issues. But that is actually exactly how God created us: to question, probe, investigate and discover the creation put before us.
If we did not do these things: take a collection of facts on a matter, assess the situation and make a decision…or change a previously held few…than our essence as homo sapiens would cease to exist. For God celebrates a changed mind.
